A fun Sunday evening...
Great. So… I went to my piano work shop, and when I came out at 4, all was fine. My dad was waiting in the car. I come in, and he tries to start the car. But no. He had left the lights on, and the car wouldn’t start—not too bad, since that has happened to us a lot before… though it is kinda annoying and takes time to start it up again. A girl from the piano workshop--Nancy--is there waiting for her parents, so she helps us push it… we push it down a big slope, but no. The car won’t start. I think that it’s just getting old, actually… but anyway, it’s kinda a disaster. We walk all the way to this mall-ish thing pretty close. And we go to a tire store… closed. It’s a Sunday. Next comes the gas station. They don’t have anything, but suggest we go to Schucks or something rather… which is apparently 3 miles away! By this time my foot has seriously gone numb, because it’s really cold and it’s raining—not only that, but I decided to bring flip flops rather than tennis shoes cuz I didn’t think we would have to walk at all. Fun!!! Hehe… so we go to this clothes store nearby (“T.J. Maxx”) like one of those cheap ones that sell stuff that other stores sold to them because there wasn’t a lot left… and we buy a pack of socks! So now I’m wearing a pair of socks with my flip flops. We walk to the bus stop, wait a while, then get on the bus… And turns out they don’t have change, adult fee is 1.25, and free for me. My dad has a one-dollar bill and a twenty-dollar bill. Finally, he just lets us pay one dollar. My dad talks to the driver and the driver says “no batteries allowed on the bus!” At first my dad thinks it’s a joke, but then it turns out it’s true, because apparently there’s a chance of them exploding… (?) But then we’re just like “ok, we’ll just smuggle it in the backpack and since it’s a different bus driver, if he finds out we’ll just say we don’t know”. So we arrive at Schucks, and by this time I’m going “ack, I have school tomorrow, haven’t finished my homework, and this just sucks”. Right? Inside Schucks, everyone’s on the phone so we wait a while. When he’s done, he goes “oh, we need to know the year your car was built, what type of engine you have, blahblah”. Uh oh! Finally, they end up finding a battery that might fit. We go outside, and end up waiting 30 minutes for another bus. We take the bus back (and guess what? It’s the same bus driver.). The bus driver goes “oh, so you didn’t get a battery”. My dad, who’s bad at lying, says “oh… um… no”. I think he really did know that we had it though… mmm… So by this time it’s already like 6:30. And it’s dark already. My dad asks the driver if our stop is close, and turns out we missed it! Great… we get out of the bus, and wait for ANOTHER bus. By this time, I’ve asked my dad if I can use is laptop to do homework (he brought it to work during my worshop. By now I’ve done all the homework I can without internet, so I’m writing this story to email to you guys later… and maybe post on my blog) We go back in the next bus, get out at the stop, walk back to this strange little street down the slope… and here I am typing up my story in the car while my dad tries to get the battery fixed. Turns out it doesn’t work, so he’s walking up to my piano teacher’s house to ask for some tools. It’s dark, no light in the car since there’s no battery, my foot is numb, I’m cold and you get the point. Right now it’s 7:14. Took us more than 3 hours so far, and we’re not even done!!! Ack… Just because my dad forgot to turn the car lights off. Wow.
P.S. Sorry, I forgot to post this a while ago... so what actually happened... is that my piano teacher came at around 7:15 pm, and he plugged a cable to his car. It took him around 2 minutes, and our car was working... If we had gone to him in the first place, it woulda saved A LOT of time and effort... not to mention that we now have to return the batter, hehe... That was a VERY fun evening.
